March 17 Sheila 3-15-2008I weighed in on Saturday and WOW, I lost another almost 3 lbs!!!! March 11 Sheila 3-10-2008Well, I weighed in yesterday (Monday). A little late this week. We had a church retreat in the Smoky Mtns this weekend. Lots of food and I'm afraid I really didn't follow my diet this weekend. I kinda relaxed over the weekend. Suprisingly, I ended up losing .3 lbs regardless. That was a shock!! The cabin had 3 levels to it each with flights of stairs to climb and I seemed to constantly be climbing those stairs. I was very happy to see that it wasn't as hard to climb them as it used to be!! I know .3 lb is not a huge loss but I'm happy it wasn't a gain and I'm determined to get back to it and work hard this week!!! March 04 Sheila 3-3-2008I weighed in this morning. Today was not my normal weigh-in day but due to my sister's wedding & being out of town, I waited until we got back home to weigh in. I only lost .4 lb this week, but I was VERY glad to have not went up after not being home all weekend & having the wedding (with the cake!) and eating out 3 days over the weekend. I was very pleased with only losing that amount. I would have liked to have lost more, but I was SO glad that I didn't not gain back what I had lost. I felt like I handled the weekend really well. We had 2 meals that we splurged on. My hometown is about the only place to get decent Chinese food!! I love their Mixed Lo Mein so my husband, myself, my sister, & my best friend went to a local Chinese restaurant & ate a lunch sized portion of lo mein. I also had 1 crab rangoon & 1 egg roll. We also went to Dairy Queen & I had a small dipped vanilla cone. I looked up all the calories & I may have gone a little bit over my calorie limit that day, but not much. The other day that I splurged on was the day of the wedding. I did allow myself to have some cake & then later for dinner, we stopped at Steak N Shake where I was not a good girl for that meal. I had a Double Steakburger, cheese fries, chocolate shake, chili, & root beer. BUT the rest of my meals I was VERY good & counted my calories & stayed on diet!! The wedding went VERY well!! I will be posting some pictures of me in my dress for the wedding as it will hopefully show how far I have come down in weight!!! :) It was a great weekend February 24 Sheila 2-23-2008 Well, I weighed in this morning & it wasn't good news! February 19 Sheila 2-18-08 Last week was okay. Lost 2.2 lbs which I was excited about! :) We went to a Valentine's party at church on Saturday of last week & lasagna was served. I was pleased with how I ate. I did have some lasagna, but I had very little dessert, which for me is VERY good!! :) Also, I had saved most of my calories for dinner that night!! :) But we are headed back to the gym this week to work very hard to drop some weight!! :) I have less than 2 weeks before my younger sister's wedding & I would like to drop a little bit more weight!! February 17 Scotty 17-Feb-2008 I'm a bad boy. Last night at a church social, I had big piece of lasagna and some dessert. Very bad for my low-carb diet. I'm going to have to go back on induction for the next 10 days to atone for my dietary sin. Hopefully it won't make me gain for this next week. At least I still lost for this week. Oh Sheila, it's time to go back to the gym!!! February 15 Sheila 2-15-2008 I forgot until today to post a blog about last week. Wow!! I lost 5 lbs last week!! I am SO excited about that! Last week was pretty much normal regarding food & journaling, etc. We did not get to the gym last week, unfortunately. In about 2 weeks, my younger sister is getting married in IL & I will be traveling there for the wedding and seeing my best friend who I have not seen in a long time. I can't wait to see what her reaction will be to the weight that I have lost !! :) February 09 Scotty 09-Feb-2008 Yeah! Even with this eating of extra meals because of my medicine, I still lost 4.7 pounds this week! I believe it is because of the hard work we've put in at the gym...we are still reaping the benefits of higher metabolism. February 08 Scotty 07-Feb-2008 Late last week I went back to the doctor about my pinched nerve. He took me off of the medicine that had been sustaining me (making the pain tolerable) and put me on pair of different medicines, neither of which is specifically for "pain". The first med (to shrink the discs and take pressure off my spinal cord) required a few days to build up in the body before it would start working--it has finally kicked in resulting in some pain relief. The second med is for nerve repair and is apparently what is administered to patients who are in the late stages of diabetes. The reason I mention all this is because how it has impacted my diet and weight loss. I think on the next weigh-in (in two days) I will be significantly heavier. I haven't been able to exercise because of the pain (although Sheila didn't want to go to the gym either). Also, I am required to take food with one of the new meds, and the regimen requires me to take the doses throughout the day. That means, I have been eating more (up to five times a day instead of my normal two times a day). I have eaten a few things I shouldn't have according to my low-carb diet. Tonight, my best friend and his wife came to dinner because it was her birthday. They brought birthday cake. So as not to be rude, I ate a tiny piece with my strawberries and cool-whip. Also, last week I bought some Atkins breakfast bars, intending to eat only one once in a while. On one day, I ate one as a sweet snack, not as a meal substitute. Earlier this week, I heated a can of hominy for Sheila's dinner, and it looked so good, I ate a few bites of it and drank the liquid from the can...I know it must have been loaded with carbs, but gosh I miss corn on this diet. February 03 Sheila February 2 2008 Well, this week was not that great! January 28 Scotty 27-Jan-2008 I threw the weigh-in on Saturday morning. I got out of bed a few hours before Sheila did, and I didn't remember to get on the scales before breakfast. So, I was 3.3 pounds heavier than last week. January 27 Sheila January 27 2008 Wow! This week was interesting and full of challenges!! :) On Tuesday of this last week, we had really dangerous ice! Because of my work's attendance policy, I attempted to try to drive on the ice. Not a good idea! January 21 Scotty 20-Jan-08 I have found that returning to the gym has increased my appetite a little. I give my body some extra carbohydrates when this happens. Like today, we went to Ryan's restaurant for lunch after church. Usually, I would only eat the meat with no breading, because the breading adds a lot of carbohydrates to an entrée. Also, I wouldn't eat any barbeque because most of the varieties of barbeque sauce is loaded with sugar. On the buffet, I did take some of the catfish and shrimp even though it has some breading. Also, I found some boneless barbeque pork ribs that had only a tiny amount of sauce on them, and I put a few of those on my plate as well. We went to the gym twice this week, once on Thursday and again on Saturday. Both times I was able to finish my full workout, which is 8 minutes cardio warm-up on the treadmill, 3 sets of 12 reps on 4 different upper body machines (biceps, triceps, and two machines for the pectorals), and 30 more minutes of cardio. On Saturday, I must've caught a second wind, because at the end of my 30 minutes, I felt like I could go another hour. There was a good movie playing, so that helps. January 20 Sheila January 19 2008 It has been a great week for me! :) First of all, I lost 3.7 lbs this week which I thought was great! That is a total of just a little over 10 lbs so far! I did really well again this week journaling & staying under my daily calorie limit each day!! My only challenge this week was going out to Chinese w/my husband. But I didn't eat much & I tried to eat the foods that I knew would be lower in calories. I did okay drinking my water this week, but probably not quite the amount that I should so I will try harder next week to accomplish that goal. We did get to the gym 2 times this week, not quite the 3 times I had planned. I am going to work on making that 3 times next week. I am SORE tonight after going to the gym today! :) But I am motivated to lose this weight!!!! :) January 13 Our StoryOur StoryWe are a wife and husband who have been married for 9 years. We would like to start a family in the near future, but our weight is hindering us from doing that. We started our weight loss journey in January of this year. It is an inspiration to us! As to why we should win, we are determined to lose our weight & to document our journey in detail on this website. Plus we would love to meet Bob & Jillian!! They are very encouraging to people who are trying to lose weight & it would be an honor to meet them! :)
How Are We Going To Accomplish This?
Sheila January 12 2008It was a good week for me!! I maintained my diet really well & journaled really well all week, except for one part of Wednesday night when I had to go to an employee meeting for work. They had some appetizers & I ate just a small amount, but was not sure how to count the calories for that, but I had plenty of calories for the day, so I feel like I did very well overall. I started out the week drinking my water everyday, but didn't do as well with that by the end of the week. That will be something I can work on next week. We only got to work out 1 time this week due to the fact I had to work extra at my job. I have it planned at for next week for us to go to the gym 3 times as we have set for our goal!! Anyway, with all the ups & downs this week, I lost almost 7 lbs this week (6.7 lbs to be exact)!!!! I am very happy with that number for the first week! Scotty 12-Jan-08 I'm on a low-carbohydrate diet, which means that my blood sugar stays pretty constant and I don't feel hunger very often. On Wednesday and Thursday that effect was more apparent than on any other days that I've been dieting. On Wednesday, all I had to eat was a handful of peanuts and about a cup of cantaloupe. I didn't eat any more than that because I just didn't feel any hunger. After work I went straight to church, and afterwards I came straight home. I wasn't hungry for dinner and just went to bed. On Thursday, I drank a little bit of soy milk at breakfast time, had some more peanuts for lunch, and then ate a small dinner, which consisted of two baked chicken breasts and some mashed cauliflower. The reason I chose this diet is because you don't stay hungry all the time. Wonderful--I lost eight pounds this week! |
